To build a better world, they must first burn the old one down.

Michael Azelys has taken control over the demons’ free will, and for the first time in a thousand years, Heaven sees war. Determined to stop his brother, Raphael becomes the key to ending the centuries-long oppression of demonkind.

Far away, Dante braves the desolate Impact Land in search of other awakened demons like himself. What he discovers exceeds his wildest hopes.

As Heaven crumbles and distance tests their bond, Raphael and Dante must face their greatest fears and decide what they’re willing to sacrifice. Will they survive long enough to meet each other again?

The Children of Heaven is the explosive finale of the Heaven Trilogy—a queer fantasy of forbidden love, apocalyptic stakes, and a defiant angel/demon love story that reshapes worlds.

Prologue
Michael

5 years old

“Jump out the window.”

These were the first words Michael remembered from his father. Memories were so fleeting. The pictures and sounds were there, but the meaning was all over the place.

This one painted a tranquil cozy day he spent in his old room in the palace. The sound of birds came through the open window and there was a slight cool breeze from his side. His father was looking down at him, arms crossed, expression firm.

Back then, Michael only knew he had to do as he was told. So, he pushed the closest chair next to the window. He remembered feeling proud for managing to do it all by himself. As he climbed on the chair, he opened the window and let the breeze inside the room. It was cold, but it also brought a sense of freedom. The entire capital was before his eyes, and most of his vision was taken in by gardens of Elden Palace.

From this height, he saw the colorful spring patterns of the blooming flowers, patterns that could only be enjoyed from above. Alirie spread to the ends of the horizon, glorious and seemingly infinite. Not too far in the distance was Judgment Mountain, with snowy peaks half-hidden by the scattered clouds. And straight down was the garden pathway, like the bottom of a huge well, so deep, it made his five-year-old head spin and brought a notion that the world was oddly tilted on its side.

Fear didn’t exist back then, but somewhere in the back of his mind, Michael felt the hardness of the white marble. The deepest parts of his psyche knew the intensity of his skull cracking against its unforgiving surface. KEEP READING

Author Reni Stankova has a way of telling a story that draws you into the stakes immediately through powerful characters and their plights, and this is a poetic and emotional end to a trilogy that will give fans of the series everything they need to feel gripped, thrilled, and satisfied. It can be tricky to write LGBTQ romance well, without it becoming gimmicky or tokenistic, and in this story, it’s treated with depth and tenderness, and then given a new high fantasy gravitas that makes us root for the couple to succeed even more.Readers’ Favorite

It’s always bittersweet to end a series and I’m sad to see this one go – but I think the ending turned out brilliantly. It would be wonderful to reenter the world of Heaven again someday!

These two characters kept me anchored to the story from the very beginning in The Enemy of Heaven all the way through the demon revolution in The Children of Heaven.
